5 Tricks For A Great Family Selfie
Have you seen all those photos in your Instagram and Facebook feeds where the family selfie looks ridiculously great? But then, maybe your own efforts have been, shall we say… frustrating??? Trust me, even as a pro, I know how hard it is to get a good selfie with a smart phone! I’m happy to share these tricks that will help you become the envy of your social media connections.
1. Flip the camera lens so you can see yourselves completely. I’m shocked (yes, shocked!) at how many times I see people taking selfies from the backside of their phones. How can they see what they’re shooting? And don’t forget, be sure to check your lens to make sure it’s clean.
2. Unless you’re wanting everyone to be looking in a specific direction, tell everyone to look directly at the camera lens – not at the screen of your phone.
3. Shoot using burst mode, where you hold the shutter button for a full second or more to get multiple photos. Another cool tool on iPhones is to use the self-timer (clock icon at top of camera screen), and it will automatically take 10 burst shots. You can pick your favorites and delete the rest. This is especially useful if you say something to get everyone laughing!
4. I’m going to say it, but don’t laugh… try a selfie stick! People use them because they work – especially for a large group. And just imagine how much nicer you’ll look when you’re not cutting your arms off by holding your phone out in front of you in every photo. If a selfie stick isn’t your style, consider a mini-tripod instead.
5. Hold your camera higher than eye level. This pro trick helps with hiding double chins and visually slim-down bodies. Be careful not to go too high to avoid creating big heads with small bodies.
