Organizing Personal Photos | Tips and Tricks

With all the advancements and new tech with our iPhone cameras, it has become super easy to grab a great snapshot or video of our daily life.  Even though I’m a photographer, embarrassingly enough I have almost 6000 photos on my phone (hanging my head in shame, lol!). organizing personal photos

I do actually routinely back those photos up but I just never delete them off my phone.  Here’s my method on making sure you don’t lose any of those memories. Organizing Personal Photos

I like to choose a day each month where I organize & backup my photos.  I typically do this on a Sunday since I like to try and spend time with my family and off my phone.  I plug my phone into my desktop and upload all my photos to an external hard drive.  You can also use dropbox, google photos, apple iCloud, or amazon prime photos.  If your spouse has photos on their phone you would want to include their images as well.

I avoid storing any actual photos on hard drive of my computer.  Over time, it will take up too much space and can slow your computer down.  Plus, if something major happened to your computer, then you would have zero backup of those photos.

Organizing Personal Photos

Organizing- you’re not done just with uploading them.  You want to have a way to easily find those pictures one day when you need them.  I organize mine by folders- one main folder for each year and then by month within the year.  You could even take that a step further by having one file for pictures and one for video.

And most importantly, if there is a photo that just makes your heart skip a beat then print it!
