When you have younger kids, you need places you can go anytime you need to switch up your routine. Whether you want to celebrate a big day or just need to get out of the house, you need a spot that will offer tons of activities so you can wear out their energy and make some memories along the way! As a Pittsburgh family photographer, I get the chance to connect with parents across the city and find out about their favorite destinations. Here is my list of some favorite things to do in Pittsburgh with kids!
Get The Family Excited For These Fun New Things To Do In Pittsburgh With Kids
424 Play Factory
424 Gold Way, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15213
The 424 Play Factory tends to be one of my favorite Pittsburgh spots for rainy days with kids. This center was created for kids ages 0-8. Throughout the space, you’ll find tons of soft play activities, including slides and bounce houses. In addition to their play equipment, you can find classes that tap into your child’s sense of creativity.
Carnegie Science Center
One Allegheny Ave, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212
While all the Carnegie museums are pretty wonderful, the Science Center has a special place in my heart! This Pittsburgh space gets to the bottom of all the why questions kids love to ask. The museum has both permanent and traveling exhibits that will engage your child’s curiosity in a new and exciting way! Whether your kid wants to explore the age of dinos or figure out how Pixar movies get made, this museum has just the thing for them!
Children’s Museum Of Pittsburgh
10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is another place where your child can grow their brains while having the best time ever! This museum offers scientific exhibits certain to capture your child’s attention. They also have tons of art exhibits and activities creative kiddos will absolutely adore. Their main center is ideal for younger kids while the next door lab was designed for kids ages 10 and up.
Poppins Playhouse
110 VIP Drive, Suite 204, Wexford, Pennsylvania 15090
Poppins Playhouse is always my go-to recommendation for imaginative Pittsburgh kids. This space was created for kids ages 7 and under. Your child can wander through an imaginary town and make their own adventures. They can take a spin around the grocery store or help some adorable stuffed animals at the vet. There is a stage where kids can put on a performance, and there’s a special toddler zone specifically for smaller kids.
National Aviary
700 Arch Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212
National Aviary is a spot for the birds! This center is dedicated to the conservation of birds all across the globe. You can stop by with your child and see some flamingos, meet some adorable owls, and watch as the condors strut their stuff. They have special Animal Encounter passages that let you get closer to the creatures.
