When you have kids, summers can be hard. Just because they get a few months off doesn’t mean your workload grows any lighter. Now, you’re juggling making sandwiches with your workload and pausing every ten minutes to get yet another snack. If you could use some help, you need a summer camp. Luckily, we have so many amazing spots around this city that let your child engage in their favorite topics! As a Pittsburgh photographer, I get the chance to connect with families about the spots they have adored. Here are the Pittsburgh summer camps you need to check out!
Don’t Plan Your Child’s Summer Without These Pittsburgh Summer Camps In Mind
Carnegie Science Center
One Allegheny Ave, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212
At Carnegie Science Center, your child is going to spend time learning all about how the world works. Their educators run programs that teach everything from chemical reactions to the science of roller coasters. They typically offer options for kids ages 4-14 that span across topics like biology, zoology, engineering, earth science, coding, and even LEGO building!
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh has summer camps that let you choose your level of care. They have half-day and full-day camps for kids starting in preschool. You can purchase as many weeks as you’d like, and they offer scholarships. Their slots fill up fast, so be sure to send your child’s application as soon as they open!
YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh
600 West North Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212
The YMCA always has something amazing going on at all their locations. No matter where you are located, I am positive they are going to have nearby options that work for your family. They offer general day camps where your child can stay active while exploring the great outdoors. They also have special interest day camps.
Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy
2005 Beechwood Blvd, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15217
The summer camps through the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy remain some of my favorites! They host age-specific programs out of the Frick Environmental Center and give kids the chance to explore their interests inside the Frick Park. Whether they want to learn about habitats or try their hand at a survival camp, your child will have something they adore!
Summer Musical Theater Camp – PMT
327 South Main Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15220
If your child has always had a flair for the dramatic, the Pittsburgh Musical Theater has the perfect option for them! They offer programs for children ages 4-18. For four weeks, your child is going to train and rehearse with experts in the West End. This experience is going to culminate in an actual show they will put on in the fourth week. The program offers assistance with acting, vocal work, dance, and technical skills.
