As summer brings heatwave after brutal heatwave, you’re probably looking for ways to beat the temps. While staying home and binging your favorite shows with the AC blasting might have been your preferred method in the past, once you have kids, you lose that luxury. Now, they’re getting tired of being cooped up and are taking it out on all your furniture. The kitchen is a mess, the pillows are all over the floor, and your dog has the vacant look of a man who has seen some stuff. You need a splash pad so your kids can run around and get out some energy while you enjoy a relaxing, sun-soaked hour or two. As a Pittsburgh family photographer and a mom myself, I get it completely. Here are the Pittsburgh splash pads that are always at the top of my family’s list!
Plan A Fun Day Outside That Includes A Visit To These Fun Pittsburgh Splash Pads
Pine Community Park
100 Pine Park Drive, Wexford, Pennsylvania 15090
Pine Community Park has one of the fancier splash pads in the Pittsburgh area. It feels a bit like a water park, only without the overwhelming lines and the preteens pushing everyone else aside. Your child can run around the colorful structures and spray each other with the butterfly shooters or run from the bucket as it fills with water. The splash pad is located within the community center property, but you don’t need a membership to access it. They also give you the chance to rent it out, so you have the perfect party idea for any summer birthday.
Warrington Splash Park
329 Warrington Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15210
The Warrington Splash Park tends to be the ideal Pittsburgh spot to go when you don’t feel like dealing with splash pad crowds. The entirety of the splash pad is fenced in. This ensures your child doesn’t run away the second your back is turned. There are shaded tables throughout the area where you can sit in comfort and watch your little one. Plus, the ground is concrete, so you don’t have to worry about it getting too slippery. Once your child is done, they can run around in the fields or the playground so they can dry off.
Troy Hill Spray Park
1200 Goettmann Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212
Troy Hill Spray Park first opened up in 2005 and has been a fixture in the community ever since! This tends to be a favorite splash pad for kids all across the Pittsburgh community. Your child will get to run through giant hoops or spend time under the sprayers cooling off. Meanwhile, you can hang out with the other parents under the shade. There is also a playground on the other side of the fence. So your child can go there beforehand and then cool off in the water!
