Family portraits are an investment in your legacy. These images are going to (hopefully) be displayed in your home to be viewed and admired for years to come. Every Spring & Fall, my outdoor sessions are a hit, so today I thought I would share 2 posing ideas for your outdoor family photos that I like to include with all of my outdoor family sessions.
The first is everyone gathered together, either standing or sitting. I always want to document the traditional family portrait, with everyone looking at the camera and smiling (think your traditional parents and grandparents always want these). Once that’s out of the way, that’s when I like to have my clients loosen up a tad and interact with one another to document more authentic connections.
The next is having my families walk! Kids cooperate 10x more for me if we give them some freedom to run around and play being the leader. Making a game out of the family session is one of my top tricks to getting cooperation and great moments on film.
