Pittsburgh Birth Center for the Birthing Experience You Desire

Are you expecting, or have you started planning for a new addition to your wonderful family? If you answered yes, you are likely considering the best place to birth your baby. If you’re struggling between a hospital birth or an at-home birth, it’s time to look into a Pittsburgh birth center that offers the best of both worlds, like The Midwife Center. A birth center provides a home-like atmosphere that feels like a country inn, where you can feel at ease as you labor while having accommodations you may need for your experience you wouldn’t have otherwise. If this sounds like the right setting for your baby to arrive in, this Pittsburgh birth center is worth a tour.

About The Pittsburgh Birth Center

This freestanding birth center in the historic Strip District neighborhood of Pittsburgh, known initially as birthplace, opened its doors in 1982 and has provided the community with quality primary gynecological care, prenatal care, and childbirth services. After years of adding new clients and services, they relocated and changed their name to the Midwife Center, which they felt better represented the services we could receive in their care. As Western PA’s first and only licensed, freestanding birth center, they have provided thousands of families with quality, comprehensive, compassionate care, educational, and evidence-based information for thousands of individuals and families and strive to maintain the same level of care today within their spacious birthing rooms.

Services

Here, services take place in their thoughtfully decorated appointment rooms, soothing and tranquil nature-themed birth suites, a spacious classroom, and space for your family and friends to wait in. Their building, located at 2831 Penn Avenue 15222, is a cozy and inviting combination of old and new in their turn-of-the-century house and the space they added to accommodate more families in 2017. They even have an elevator at this Pittsburgh Birth Center! Their first floor offers three birthing spaces with a queen-sized bed, a large bathroom, and a tub. Two of those spaces are equipped to handle a waterbirth. Along with exceptional care, the Midwife Center provides an home-like atmosphere. This allows you to feel at ease and focus on yourself and your baby.
